My oldest nephew, Hunter, was on the baseball field again!
It's been YEARS since I have seen him play!! He has gone through a "non sports" phase, and basically was just totally uninterested. He was attending our HUGE high school, that is practically the scale of a small university!! And I truly mean that the powers that be at this school thinks it IS a university. Sometimes, I think the standards at this school are totally ridiculous!! Should a kid be interested in a sport... that means NOTHING!
The kid has to be a total star/ standout, and other somewhat political tricklings that I won't mention here, is how said kid MIGHT get to play on the team! Hunter is no longer at that school. He is now at a more rural high school. One where you drive in on a dirt road to the ballpark, instead of one with a new $50,000 scoreboard!
And I'll be honest with you, it is VERY refreshing!! (Understand, my kids are in the school zone to attend big, bad school too! So, I need to get on over it, start my kids in gymnastics at age four so they have a SHOT at cheering in high school, put on my big girl panties and deal!!)
Hunter has always been more of the country boy type. He likes to hunt, fish, drive a big ol truck and really likes to hang out with his fellow country boy buds. So, this school is suiting him just fine!! And if he's happy, I am VERY HAPPY. And I am soooo proud to see him back on the ballfield, ENJOYing playing vs. constantly competing to play! And as I was choosing the photos for this post, I saw this picture and felt that his little brother, Jake, was shining down with pride too!! We love you, Hunter.
