Working on the cottage.

Hey, to all you northerners, I apologize in advance!
But for all us southerners.... it's PLANTIN' time!  wooooo hooooo...

Yep... right around this time each year, the girls and I go out and get our trowels and get the ground all prepared for the new bounty of awesomeness that we intend to plant.
Even the ground is looking like something I feel like going barefoot in!  Things are just really greening up!
The girls are really enjoying helping in the garden, but that will soon pass.  At least for my teenage daughter, Ellie!
The cottage is calling my name.  I am determined that this is the year that I am going to move some of my jewelry into my "soul space" and start actually working there.
That's a hot face I have there, isn't it?!  Botox, anyone?!
This is the view from the top story of the cottage, from the area which has the bed in it.
Not sure if I have ever told you about the interior of my cottage.  But, you have to climb up a ladder to get to the loft.  From there, there is a bed, and this is the view from said bed.  I LOVE that place!
And when looking over the loft, I see this.  (the furniture on its side has since been moved!!)
And this potting bench will soon be outside on the back deck that doesn't yet exist!  (But is coming soon!!!)
I moved all my gardening books out to the cottage, because, well.. that just made sense.
What didn't make sense was that there is so much natural light in this joint that all my awesome books now have sun bleached covers.  :(
I had to move this old postal box out of the cottage simply because there was nowhere for it to be.  The old gray box on the wall is now down, as it was the Invisible Fence for the dogs at the old house.  The armoire is about to be shades of green with cork in the mirror hole, and will house my jewelry making components.  And please take note of that window unit air conditioner.  Seriously, is there anything better?  I fully intend to NAP out there some this summer. It's a goal of mine.
Remember that piece of furniture on its side?!  Well, now it's here!  And I can look out that window toward my house to see the kids playing on the trampoline, so I can work away while still being able to watch them.
These are my legs.
Another great shot of my gardening library, and those louvered doors also house books.  All the rest will be filled with crafty greatness, I am quite sure.
I've been thinking about bedding for the place...
And of course some cute throw pillow.  That black and white chair may or may not get to keep living there, but if it does, I'd like to soften the graphics of it with a patterned pillow.
I really, really like this one!
Umm... not so sure.
LOVE.  But it's "hot" colors, and not positive that I like that with those orange floors.
This just might have to be my new rug!  Think about it with that black and white chair, and maybe a bright yellow pillow on it.  I'm smiling just imagining it!!
These are velvet throw pillows!!  I am in L.O.V.E.!!  And with a monogram.
Mossy green striped sheets.  YUM.  I love stripes!!
Looks more like Fiji than West Monroe.
This might just work?
Or if I want to move to the cooler side of the color wheel.
And I think this rug is that dadgum bomb too!

Or either of these.  I just can't decide.
I'll try to post the finished product.  I am taking this coming week off to hang around my house.  That NEVER happens!!  If I'm off, I am typically out of town!  But, it's the girls' Easter break, and I have decided to just chill and get my cottage all ready for it's new function.
Have a happy weekend!

i suggest that you stay on the warmer side of the color wheel. you always use blues - go with the other!!!!

the cottage is beautiful - and i look forward to you featuring your angels in that garden.

and to this northerner in wv - we had snow flurries all day yesterday and i think we have more snow predicted for the weekend. my baby bird made it home from college today for her spring break, so i don't care what the weather is until time for her to drive back lol lol

and i love that shelving unit you are using for a bookcase - very interesting piece!!!

I can't wait to see the finished armoire, green sounds wonderful and great idea to cork the window.

Enjoy your week with the girls.

So jealous of the cottage! It's just adorable.

Yup, this northerner is envious, but Hopeful. I can live vicariously through you and your beautiful spring photos.
Can't wait to see the changes coming to the cottage.

I love the tour of the cottage! I've been curious about it for a while. I didn't realize it was so finished (floor and walls etc). No wonder you had to bring it with you!! I'm so happy for you to be spending a week at home with your girls in your own happy space.

Melanie, something is scaring me some. Backyard trampolines are dangerous. Here is a link to a bunch of stuff: https://www.google.com/search?q=backyard+trampoline+dangers&aq=0&oq=backyard+trampoline+dan&aqs=chrome.1.57j0.12598&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Sooo...I've seen the cottage for years now. Have I ever heard the story of how it came into being? Or maybe I've just forgotten.
