JinJin's omelet in a bag tradition

And what would a Christmas morning be without the usual omelet bar tradition?!
When we got there, she had it ready to rock and roll!!
Everything was neatly organized and all sliced and diced.  And here's the recap on how we do it.  You get two eggs.  Crack em and put them in a ziplock bag.  I think it was a freezer bag to be exact.
JinJin had the water boiling on the stove.
One by one, we dropped our eggs in the pot to cook.  While we waited, we enjoyed these awesome sausage and cheese biscuits.

So, we each take the ziploc, add the eggs, all the fixins to our liking, write our name on the bag with a Sharpie, and...
dropped it right in the pot.
It is a cool thing for us to do on this morning, because even the little ones can get involved.
The bag o' omelet cooks for 13 minutes, and then it is ready to roll out and eat.  We usually add a little salsa and may be a few more bacon bits to the top to present it nicely on the plate.  And voila... it's done!
These three girls seem to like this tradition.

I know Staci and I do, because, well, we don't have to bring a single thing and it's so easy breezy to do.

Ellie LOVES her an audience!

And Gabbi LOVES her some bacon!

More on Christmas at JinJin's on the blog over the weekend.  Stay tuned.  And let me know if you are reading!!  Thanks to Amy, Zhonn, MBeaty, Theresa, Dee, and Kimmybee.... I appreciate your remarks!!  Been thinking about your word of the year?!  I've been really thinking about mine.

I've been mulling over my word for next year, but not completely settled on one just yet.
If you're up for working your canvas-magic again, I'd love to order another to display with my last 3!?
I can't wait to hear what your word will be.

Yes, Mama J still reads your blog every day. When we moved, couldn't read for about 4 days and I had a lot of catching up to do. Thanks for letting me intrude a little on your day when I picked up the wrist tie. It was a BIG hit. Mel...very nice to meet you.

I have made the JinJin omlets once and loved them... need to remember to do that more... :)
Word for the New Year is the one I had you put on my cross bracelet... "BREATHE".... 2012 has been a very emotional year... my sister-n-law relapsed with Stage 4 breast cancer in the liver. Has been a hard thing... we take it day by day. So praying 2013 will be the miracle year for her and I just have to remember to breathe no matter what...

I have been a follower or "lurker" for a very, very long time, ever since you first opened the Caring Bridge site when Jake first got sick. I enjoy reading your blog every day and have made it a part of my daily routine. We know a lot of the same people and I feel like I have known you and your family forever. I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!

I'm reading! :-) Looks like the omelet in a bag tradition is still very popular. I'm not big on eggs, but - like Gabbi - I love me some bacon!

I've been thinking about my word for the year. I ask God for an anchor verse each year, and I choose the word from that. I feel that He's leading me toward a particular theme, so I'm waiting for His confirmation.

Hope you have a Happy New Year!

I always, always read--just don't comment sometimes. Gotta keep up with the goings-on of the Massey-Groves bunch! lol Love the tradition of the omelets. I'm with Snekcip though...how do you keep the bag from melting? And you haven't told us if Todd is feeling better...hope he is. Thanks once again for sharing! :)

I am so glad you wrote about the omelets. I was telling someone the other day about them..She wanted to make them for a large group staying at her house. I told her I thought you would blog about them on Christmas and I would write it down! So glad you did.. I wasn't sure about the time they cook. So Jin-Jin's omelets will be famous in Cedar Park, TX too! The girls are so much fun to watch! Love their outfits....
Hope to get up there sometimes within the next few months and want to see y'all. I check your blog each night just after 11:11 Always enjoy reading it!!
