Three Little Monkeys swimmin' in a tub!

Again. Just stealin' pictures from Staci's puter.
These were a few of many hilarious pics from these three monkeys playing in the tub. I am not a fan of my kids without clothes on here, (particularly in light of the major, major mess that occurred this time last year thanks to one of my "loyal" readers... ), therefore, we are only doing headshots tonight!
Sorry, I am just still not over that whole incident!

Anyway, I don't know if there are any cuter pics than bathtub pics. I have some of my two girls together that I hope to blow up and put in their new shared, "jack and jill" bath area.

These were taken sometime around November, best I can figure! Gabbi only has about 4 teeth in these pics, and now she has a whopping 6! And holding!
Ok, so this is the deal with my puter. I have been getting messages for a couple of months that I am running out of space on my harddrives and that I need to delete in order to put new pics, or anything, on my computer. Soooo, I asked my friend, Crystal, who knows more about Mac than anyone I know. She came over and coached me through deleting the pictures off my harddrive. I then spent the next 8+ weeks deleting many photos off per night, and not only deleting them, but also organizing them meticulously! I mean, if you need to see a pic of Pops from the past two years, just check his file on my external harddrive. Same is true for Nana, Jin, Staci, Maddi, Poppa, Todd, DeeDee,...... and so forth and so on. For further organization, Ellie is broken down into every single month since her birth, with folders in each month of the outfit or event occurring during that month. AND, I further organized each picture into holidays, St. Jude days, (and ALL of my pics of Jake),.... so many pics from each event can be found in about 3-4 different folders on the external harddrive.

Ok, so following all this so far?! Now, here is where I want to scratch my eyeballs out!

I, thanks to my tech specialist, Jessi, have now realized that I have spent all of my time, actually deleting my pics from iPhoto! Not my harddrive! iPhoto is a photo organizing software, but the pics are still somewhere mysteriously hidden (and we cannot find them) on my Mac! I swear, I would take off 5,000 (yes, I mean 5,000), then try to upload 30 new ones from my camera, and I couldn't, due to "not enough space on my harddrive)! I just didnt' get it.

I guess it makes a little more sense now. And NOW it is so dang full that I cannot even open my email (AT ALL), hook up to my printer (because it doesnt' have the space to recognize the printer) and absolutely, in no way, can I upload any pics!!

Tomorrow, this puter is going to the puter doctor to see if anyone can FIND my pics on this computer. And if they can't, I am going to puke! Jessi thinks I saved all those iPhotos pics onto the external harddrive in a small size, and not one such that I could ever blow it up and use it with any degree of quality. YES, that includes my DELETED Jake pics! And now I am going to stick bamboo skewers into my fingernails!

Hope you all have a happy Tuesday! :)
Mo

NOOOOOOO!!! OMG! I can feel your pain all these thousands of miles away! But, hey, listen to my story.... I have a Mac (always have) and so do most of my family members. Last summer my daughter's Mac crashed (she's the school Art Teacher and had thousands of pics related to students' work over a 5-year period plus student records, etc.), so she took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, and after a hefty fee she not only recuperated all of her photos and records but also all of her precious music (songs that numbered in the thousands). So don't pull all your hair out just yet. The Geek Squad really is a squad of super-intelligent geeks, and they are capable of almost anything.
I'll keep you in my prayers.
Hugs, xoxo
P.S. Your kiddies are soooooo adorable.

SO SORRY about the pics!! Praying they can be recovered. You may have seen this, but here is a link to another blog entry about this same thing. The last part of the post talks about an online service that can back up your pictures and some techy Mac stuff that may be helpful to you Mac gurus. Hope this provides some helpful information!!

Mo, I'm praying for peace strength and knowledge for the puter doctor. I'm also praying for peace for you. I have also decided to take my puter to the doctor tomorrow and have them back up my pictures. This has been on my mind lately anyway and your experience is apparently God's way of screaming at me.

I think I have seen you using Shutterfly in the past, but they will store your pictures for you and when you download them back onto your computer, they are full size. Just an idea. I also use Mozy.com. This is an automatic backup service. It's cheap and will automatically perform a complete backup of your computer as often as you want it to. These are lessons I have learned from my past. I don't use mac, but think both of these can be used for mac. Sorry you are going through this, hope the puter docs can help tomorrow.

If you run time machine then they are all there and can be recovered anytime! You can't scroll through the pictures when you are actually in time machine, but they are all stored in the iPhoto library folder. The guy at the apple store told me that. If your guy doesn't figure it out, just send it to me!:)

Oh No!!! Sounds like a mess!! Computers are wonderful in some way, but horrible in other ways (when this happens). Good luck and let us know the result!

Do you read Kelly's Korner (kellyskornerblog.com)? She had a similar photo crisis this week. She and her husband thought they had deleted all of their pics. They have some info on there about saving, backing up, retrieving photos. Most of the technical talk sounds like greek to me, but something in there might help you???? It's worth a shot.

RE: your pictures that you can't find in iPhoto - open your Finder window, then select your user name (i.e. "Mo") then Pictures, then iPhoto Library. Typically, you would just double click on that icon to launch your iPhoto but if you want to actually SEE the original pictures (if you are sure you really didn't delete them), then you need to right click on iPhoto Library and select "Show Package Contents". This will open a whole new window with ALL of the contents of your iPhoto Library in it. I bet you'll find some stuff in there ;-) Good luck.

Oh, Lordy! Mo, that just sucks - no other word - but I have faith in Apple puter doctors. I am sure they will find your photos. But I can only imagine your pain, frustration and anquish right now.

Whoa MAJOR Bummer. I have done something similar - transferring pix to my external hard drive (even verified they were there). Only to find that they WEREN'T. Still makes me ill to this day -- had some of my last pictures of my Mom on it. I just shake my head as I type the words.

Keeping some hope for your computer guy - may the Supreme Tech be with you!!! You know I mean the Good Lord Above, right? :)

Oh Melanie... I'm praying that computer doctor can recover your photos!
Our house burned 4 years ago and we lost all photos from my babies from birth to age 7. It's heartbreaking we don't have then to look back on, but I have maxed out our new hard drive with tons of photos since.

Also, I don't know the details of what happened last fall, but I'm so thankful you dusted yourself off and continued with your blog. I'm a long time Jake believer and love you like family!

Hoping for great picture news!!!,
Crystal

I hope you're able to find all your photos. Our computer crashed once and I lost all of my photos. It was a disaster. Luckily, I tend to email friends and family pictures of my kids, and some of those people save the pictures; therefore, I was able to get back some of my pictures. I was still majorly upset, but getting some back is better than getting none back. I hope you're able to recover ALL of your pictures!
