House building.

Welcome to our new home.  Todd drove me out there after work and drove right into the garage.
Within minutes, we had a visitor!  I have a feeling that when we move out here, there will be a little girl just counting down the minutes til she can run over and play with her two little buddies.
I stood back and watched these two act like general contractors.  Which, they are not.
Paula walked around with the plans like she was surveying the work.
I think we are almost ready for concrete.  This is apparently "the form".  and this is the wire meshy stuff that will go next for pouring concrete. Or so I think.  Mainly I just know I bought it!  I guess I should be asking Paula all the technical questions!  She is the contractor.  Riiighttt.
I thought it was kinda funny that this one item was out there.  It is apparently a necessity as it is one of the first things brought to the work site!
And Paula continues to study the plans.  As if!

As we sit in our house, this is to the left.  (Staci and Don't house)
And Paula and Johnnye are to our right !
Speaking of... look who ELSE came to visit.
Staci had just gotten Maddi in her Pj's.  And now she is out here in all this fresh dirt!
Oh, and Veronicia and her mom walked over too.  They were at Staci's house.  Paula went through the preliminary plans with her.  SHe may have to make a few changes, but it looks like her crew is on go.
And our 7 year old babysitter was ready and raring!!
I am one to worry about a big purchase item like this!  People are asking me, "are you excited?"  and actually, I am probably a little more apprehensive than excited.  I KNOW we need a new house, but You know... homes aren't exactly cheap these days!  I worry about that!  A lot!  But then I look at this...

and I watch her walk around what will soon be her new room....
and then I realize that this one will not have to sleep in a crib in our room forever or only have an alternative of an upstairs room (as is now our situation), and I know...
This is meant to be!

I am quite sure you will be seeing lots of this process in the coming months!  Stay tuned!!

Good for you! It is a little frightening, but sooooooo worth it. I can't wait to watch your studio come together! What fun. I love mine, although now it is too full, and I need to rework the entire storage plan. But, that is what heat waves are for, right?

Melanie, I bet your home is going to be beautiful!! I can't wait to see the pictures as you go along. We'll probably all have to work til we're 99 anyway--so don't worry---it'll work out!! :)
On another note--that picture of Maddi just struck me---she looks so much like her brothers in that picture!

Oh how exciting! We built our dream home 3 years ago! It is quite a journey but so worth it. Would love to see what the outside will look like. Just have patience and you will be thrilled when it's finished. BTW, when do you think it will be done? (Do I appear nosey?)
Have a great weekend!!

Congrats on the building process. What is up with Gabbi looking so grown up in these pics. Then I scroll down and there is Ellie looking so grown up too. Are you feeding those kids grain to make them grow so fast. For heaven's sake woman, put a brick on their heads and make them stop growing up so fast.

Hope things go well in your new neighborhood. Don't forget that the scrap/craft room plans are real important to keep us up to date on.

I think it sounds like lots of fun. We have a great neighborhood for our kids. They have friends all around and so do we. We always say we can never move unless we buy enough land to bring everyone with us. I am sure there will be many happy memories for all the kids.
