Your one little word!

Ok, I am home from the festivities.. all of which included kiddos, so no big partying for this crew.  And, well, I am not totally positive about my one little word for 2014.  I am getting close though.  My friend, Suzy, seems to think I am onto something with my potential word, so if she continues to coax me, it'll probably stick.  I JUST LOVE the 31st of Dec and the 1st of January every year.  I wish I had a solid week to stay home and plan!  I did take some time this past week to focus on goals and ideas and ways to help others grow and stretch and reach their potential.  This includes my colleagues at work, my friends, and for sure myself!  It is such a great "clean slate" feeling, although, deep down, I know it's just another day.  I never take "just another day" for granted!!  I love each and every one of them and know that each one is a gift.  ANd each one is "numbered".  So, I try to live each to its fullest.

If you are like me and love to really focus on one particular area/ word, then maybe you want to choose ONE LITTLE WORD too, to guide your 2014.  You can take that word and apply it to many areas of your life.  I'll give my example as soon as I solidify my choice.  If you'd like to play along, there's a blog I follow which has lots of words that could potentially be your word for the year.  Click this link to see a whole slew of words that might be the one which will speak to you!
http://aliedwards.com/2013/01/one-little-word-2013-the-words.html
And know that I really do care to hear from you.  I LOVE to get comments from you.  I even found a way for me to "reply" as I did to Shannon yesterday!  I love interaction!  And I plan to do more of it this year. So, choose your word, then let me know what you chose for accountability.  Also, if you have the time and energy, leave me a little message as to WHY you chose it.

Yay for 2014!!

This year my word is focus. I need to focus on so many things! Myself, my health, my family, job, finances, my faith, my life in general. I'm ready to FOCUS!

As you know, I chose TEND for 2014. I have begun a list of things I want/need to tend to, in an effort to better myself, my family, my household, etc.
I have also printed off some lyrics and quotes that I plan to do some scrapbooking & journaling with, to keep my word present throughout 2014.

I am staying with REMAIN. I need that. Our family does too this year. There isn't much that does REMAIN, but what there is, we cherish. I look at the picture you did for me when we first started down this road, and it still gives me strength to face the day.

I'm thinking 'beginnings' is the word for the year. My career may take a different turn and my personal life as well!
Looking forward to hearing your word for 2014!

I picked 'intentions' and hope to focus on that in my work, home, and social life. I haven't been very good at planning lately. I've been more fly by the seat of my pants or a procrastinator. I need to find a balance. I'm hoping having good, positive and meaningful intentions will help me! I've been thinking about you the last few days - wondering what you'll pick and what jewelry will represent your word! I may need to get you to make me something. All the stuff I've seen is for smaller words. Mine is long!!

I have chosen "chill." Last year (really last two years) my word was Zen and I think I was pretty successful at my "Zen-ness" - better at being calm vs stressed, a bit more spontaneous (I'll always be an over planner tho), and just being more relaxed. So to be chill to me is a natural extension of zen, but broader and deeper, especially when most "challenged." My second word last year was declutter and I have done a bunch of that, so now my second word is simple - thinking "simple" is the best way to approach everything.

I need help with my word. I procrastinate in every area of my life. I put everything off as long as I possibly can. So I need to know what word would be the opposite of procrastinate.

I am always a believe! That is why I chose it for my tattoo! I think that one simple word can be applied to every aspect of life! From faith, family and friends to everyday tasks and even your job! Just believe all will be well and the positive attitude carries you through!

And I was referring to Shannon Sanders, and the reply I've learned to leave on the blog like this.

My word is "Peace". I need to come to peace with so many areas of my life and need to fill my house and life with peace. I need to come to peace with my past and learn to forgive. I need to come to peace with a recently failed relationship. I need to find peacefulness in the home - settle the girls down, get some structure, organize and rid our house of the chaos. Peace - I need it, I want it. I gotta have it or this single mommy is gonna lose her mind! As you know Mel, my girls are adopted, too. I am certainly not complaining, but things just seem a bit out of control trying to raise two busy little girls on my own. I love it - every minute of it! But I am tired. I feel like peace is the best word to describe the whole of the changes I need to make in myself, and my home. I always look forward to this and each year I intend on focusing on a word and by February, I am off on something else and have already forgotten about it. This is the year I stick with it and make Peace happen in our lives. Thanks for the inspiration!

Like the past few years my word jumped out at me in early December. My word is Health. Since I started doing a Word of the Year I've made a lot of improvements in my life. Unfortunately I know that I continue to not meet my major physical, emotional, and mental health goals. Therefore this year I know that my word will be Health. Setting goals focused on Health will be the reminder to focus on myself and make a better me. The benefits to my family, my life, and myself will be endless I feel. My first steps will be writing down my goals, starting my Health Journal, and planning projects that will keep me focused on my word.

This is the first year that I have chosen a word so we will see how it goes. My word for 2014 is Intentional. I want to be intentional with everything I do. With my school, my work, my relationships, my family, my friends and most importantly my children. I want to intentionally love on people, show my love and help others. In everything I do for 2014 I want to be intentional.

I have read your posts and choosing a word for each year, and frankly, I never could come up with one word. This year, however, I have adopted a phrase. 2013 brought a great deal of loss, trial, etc. and a great deal was a real struggle. I had made a purchase at an auction a few months ago that never made it out of my car until a few days ago. It was an old spoon hammered out with the words "It is well with my soul" hammered into it. What a revelation! I have proudly worn this every day since I "found" it and know that no matter what life brings in 2014 - It is well with my soul!
