Key necklaces for Herringstone's- Labor Day indeed.

I got to have a little fun recently.  It was on Labor Day weekend, in fact.  And yep... I DID labor!
But they say when you are doing something you love, it never really feels like work at all.  And that was certainly the case!!

I whipped out some of my favorite stones, vintage brass chain, tassels, some old skeleton keys I've been hoarding, and got to work MAKING!
I love it when I get  my groove going, and I can just leave all of my supplies out for a day or so and do a whole bunch of one style, for a "line" if you will.
I knew I could sell these cute little things, cause if I do say so myself, they were pretty dang awesome!

I was kind of going through a green and  blue phase.  Wait!  I STAY in that phase!!
They were quite eclectic.  Some of them clasping in the front, some short, some long, some with varied chains, and some quite simple.
I had some old geodes I bought in Tucson, and they've been wanting to see the light of day, so this was their special day!
I worked on earrings too, but ended up not offering these up.  I want to build up a bigger reservoir of these before I offer them to anyone.  I used strips of leather and really fun little brass shapes glued on.
I also used some old hymnals glued onto turquoise-colored beads.
I gotta say, these were some of the funnest ones I have worked on in some time.  They were all just so different!

I'm planning to go to Canton this week, and one of the main things I am looking for is old keys.  I have a pretty good selection now, but I am planning on doing a "Keys to a Positive Life" segment at the Nov. 8 retreat, and this is the supporting project we'll be doing.

Some of the "pieces of art", (cause I totally see them as such!) were more ornate and complex than others.

But, even the "simple" ones were pretty neat.  This one hung like a lariat, where the faceted stone hung through the toggle very uniquely.

These colors just make me wanna say YUM!

So, if you are in Monroe, head on over to Herringstone's on Forsythe Avenue and tell Cindy or Debbie that I sent ya.  They also have some of these in the Herrigstone's store in Lafayette.

And last night, if you were at the Rebel Runway, you saw them on the models for Herringstone's.  It was their jewelry of choice for their styling.  WHOop Whoop!

I ended up changing out a few stones before I delivered them to give them one more color option, as COLOR seems to be the thing for the fall.  And orange is big.

So is red violet.  And I am in L.O.V.E. with that color right now.  Just like I am in L.O.V.E. with these tassels!!

I made a couple of tiny simple ones.  I like anything if a feather is added to it.

Together, they just looked totally fabulous.  This inspires me to no end!
So, let's hear it... what ya think?!

Did you see a favorite in all that mess?!

This is how I delivered them to the store... on a stick, hanging in the back of my car.
Looks like a trip back to Tucson is a MUST!  ha.  I've been telling Jessi we need to refer to it as "market research"!!

Wow! That's awesome! Wish I had just a fraction of your talent! And I wish I had your cake maker close by! My girls both had birthdays (well, one last week and one this week) and they both would have liked that layered cake you always have (the tiered one). We found a really cute 3 tiered cake with a volleyball on top! But, I don't bake and I don't make jewelry! Hmmmm.... can I move closer to you? Old house still empty?

Love the colors! They the necklaces are gorgeous! On a side note, at some point I think you could cut up and sell your art table as abstract pictures! Love the mix of colors there too!

PS. I showed this post to my husband last night and told him this is what we should each be looking for in our lives - PASSION about something. Something that truly gives meaning to life. You're an awesome example! I also read him your post on you and Todd's anniversary because he always wants us to find something we would both love to do TOGETHER. Just so you know, you're teaching even when you don't know it! Just by your example!

Love you guys!
