New Orleans. Part Deux!

Ok, so I am actually not going to be mopey about my crazy life tonight! My husband told me I have been very negative this week. That is not typical of me. Soooo, I am going to rise above! You know, we have choices! And our attitude is a BIG one that we get to make in every situation, so enough is enough! I am going to get myself organized this week, move a big ol chunk of stuff from old house to new house, watch LSU whip North Carolina, and get decided on my kids' daily routine for sitter. Then, when Monday comes, I am going to get focused and take deep breaths!

With that... let's revisit New Orleans from my short trip last weekend.
If you've never been to New Orleans, let me just tell you that this is the quaintest little place in the world! I just LOVE it all!
The greenery is actually green all year long! And the architecture is truly one of a kind!

There are all kinds of people represented in various sections of the French Quarter.
And ART is everywhere! I really, really, really love that!
There is a French Market which has just about everything under the sun to buy!
yep. I DID buy one of these!
And Jessi bought one of these to bring home to Jeff.
Ha. Just kidding!
This is Todd's Nirvana! Cooking spices!
And THIS is my Nirvana! Bloody Marys!
Thanks to this little chick who made a really good one!
My hubby was originally going to tile a backsplash with these tiles from our native LA as well as places we visit. As it turns out, we need to MOVE into our new house. So, there was no time for us to collect these things. But I DO love them. We have a nice healthy stack of them now, but I just don't really know what we are going to do with them. Something will come up!
And if you need one of these, let me know. Did you know there is actually an alligator farm that I pass very near my new house and when I used to take Hunter and Hayden to school. It's a normal thing down here in Louisiana.
One of my most fave-o-rite things to do in New Orleans is to go down to the French Market. My favorite part is when I come upon a booth that has an actual artist vs. some foreigners with cheaply made items from their respective countries. I mean, I would rather have actual , unique ART vs. cheaply manufactured JUNK. But, then again, I have always been the kind who likes to DIGGGGG through lots of stuff to find some real jewels! For instance, think Tuesday Morning, Hudson's Salvage, TJ Maxx. or any of those other places where you never know what you are going to find when you get there!
Enough of that. This is the French Market.
And this is Staci, my sister. With a fake smile.
Awww. More cute houses.
Jessi, wow. You have very sensual lips! And my eyes look like a cat! We are a couple of sexy vixens.
Oh, wait! Now I am NOT a sexy vixen. I am a pimp. Please look closely at my necklace. Which by the way, I bought! I had to have it! I think the flat bill goes nicely with the Vera Bradley backpack, don't you!?
This is House of Blues. I LOVED this chalkboard with all the upcoming bands drawn on it. So artsy!
And then, Jessi and I had some fun at Urban Outfitters.
Heard of the Blue Dog artist? Rodrigue? He is an icon down here.
But you know what my favorite sight of the trip was? It was this sign from Jake. A Jake sky, where the rays are shooting down from Heaven. I think he was saying, "Hey mom, dad, Mo, thanks for keeping my memory alive! " (We were there for LA Assoc. of Non Profit Organizations... to learn more about ways to grow the JOR Foundation)
Hope you enjoyed this little highlight of my state!

Just wanted to let you know that I am encouraged that even YOU have "those days." (You would never know by your upbeat, awesome posts!) I guess it's just the cross we bear as mothers, wives, and working women. The really cool thing is that when I look back on my days (...even the crazy, stressful ones) I realize that life is really, really good, and I am really, really blessed. Hang in there!

Mo it's normal to have days like that! You are human and not every day is gonna be sunny and bubbly.

As long as the "not so postive" days are not prolonged, is when its starts becoming "unhealthy".

I like the fact you realize it, you acknowledge it, you are correcting it and gaining a postive aspect to rise above it!

Now...let's discuss this N'awlins post! I love this quaint, and crazy city! It's packed w/so much to do around every bin! LITERALLY!! I remember one year it was like 8 of us visting N.O. for a bday celebration for my both my sisters-in-law! We all shopped at the French Market that whole day and packed the car w/our pkgs and "small finds"! Well, on the way back to the hotel *we stayed in Slidell* we got lost trying to find our way back to the hotel! We made wrong turns on ONE WAY streets, narrow streets and by mistake,a dead end alley! As we tried to back out, we noticed some ppl were dancing around a fire. It's not an odd sight to see dancing on the streets in N.O. but this was some STRANGE dancing! We had heard the "voodoo" stories so we were like SCARED out of our pants and we tried to not "look" at the folks as we cautiously backed out!!! Well outta of nowhere the biggest cockroach in the state of Louisiana flew through our window and let me tell ya, if you ever wanna see 1 BIG cockroach make 8 grownfolks act a fool in 1 overpacked SUV, well that was the time! I was 7mos pregnant and was caught in the melee!! I thought for sure I was gonna deliver this kid in the alley of N.O. the way I was carrying on! I was more scared of the fact that my child would for sure have a "cockroach" birthmark!! LOL!! Oh my goodness talk about freaked us out! We were screaming and trying to get out the doors and those "dancers" just kept dancing, never even batted an eye!! Seems like the more we screamed, the faster they danced~the roach was everywhere in that car!!!

We finally got the varmint out the car and as we gathered our wits, and backed out on 2 wheels *yeah we were moving that fast*! My brother in the backseat (who finally found his effort to talk) said in a frazzled voice "I had planned to throw this "fake roach" on yall at the hotel, but it seems like this "damn thing" came alive! Can you say...."that fake roach" was left in that alley that night! We still laugh about that to this day!!!

Well my kid did not "inherit" the roach birthmark...strangely enough though, he has a strange penchant for late night snacking in the kitchen...long after the lights are off and we have gone to bed!!! Ya think maybe.....Naaaaaaah....couldnt be! LOL!!!

You make me LAUGH! You have the best personality. I bet traveling with you is a HOOT! BTW, how many drinks did you have the night before because that pic of the BM is pretty shaky!
Thanks for the tour of New Orleans. I have always wanted to go there. Another 'maybe someday'!
Good luck with figuring out your routine and sitter. We are buckling down on the routine around here as well.
Take care MO!
