INspired 2009. Part Deux.

I can always tell what people are and are not interested in by the number of comments I get.  Wellllllll, you HAVE to get through one more post about INspired.  So grin and bear it!   Not much longer. I promise.

Here we go... this is Sheryl.  She taught a cool class of metal working!  It is something that just about anybody could do, and I highly recommend you go to her site.  She is a hoot.  I also plan to order a kit that has just about everything you need to get rolling.

This is the back cover of a book she made. Isnt' it cool?
More of Sheryl's work.  In the class, we actually made a dogtag with metal.  Mine had a purple fleur de lis and said, "Go LSU" on the opposite side.  I hope to take pics of the things I made as soon as the boxes ship back home!  I was NOT going to tend to those overstuffed suitcases on the way home.  These chicks are called the Glitz Girls.  I could not believe it when I was introducing myself to them and they said they were heading to Monroe, LA soon for a class.  WHAT?!  WHERE?   They said they were coming to teach at some scrap store here.  WHAT?! We don't HAVE  scrap store here?!  Were they mistaken?  I must look into this!

ANd next we have Jennifer Stewart!  She helped us make this little collage on a canvas.  This was probably the closest thing we did to actual scrapbooking.  Except Jen is allllll about glitter!  And I learned how to use beeswax in a project.  Cool.

And this is Carol Wingert.  She is a mixed media artist.  She helped us make a travel folio for saving memories from an upcoming trip.  She also writes books and contributes to many publications.

And now for you, Masson.  This is my outfit on day three.  This was before I went out, and I look like a drowned rat.  You can't see my super cute necklace, but it is made of Fimo beads and is painted in Jake's favorite, green!

Day two... a Peace tee from Target, a funky fiber scarf, and kelly green pants... until I sat in rain water outside, and had to go back to the room and change.  It was BAD!!
Tejae was the teacher of my clay beads class.
http://www.tejaesart.blogspot.com/2008/07/polymer-clay-house-charm.html
Yet another project that we MUST do as a group.  It was so fun and EASY!  In fact, go out and buy some FIMO clay and I will teach this one soon!  Get two to three coordinating colors.
Here I am making beads.  For the first time ever!
Did I mention that I LOVED this entire art event?!  LOVE.  LOVE.  LOVE.

Oh, and speaking of LOVE.  Susan taught me to sew!  Yay for Susan!  I made this little fabric book.  The title on the cover, which you cant' really read in this picture is "Family of 4".  I cannot wait til it comes (in the mail still), cuz, I am DYING to finish this one!
http://susanedmonsondesigns.com/
There were lots of little demonstrations, where we all just huddled around and watched the teachers do their thing!

And finally, a portrait artist!  I was not all that looking forward to this one.  I just couldn't imagine doing it.  But this is Paulette....
http://www.pauletteinsall.com/onlineclasses.html
Paulette taught portraits in a very step by step manner.  It was like a left brained person taught people how to use their right brain!  IN other words, not all ethereal, dreamy like... all artsy and all... rather, first this layer, then this layer, then this brush, then this watercolor for highlights, etc!! It made you think that maybe you could do it again when you got home.

Dang, I wish I had gotten this chick's link.  Does anybody know her? Her name is C.D.  SHe was in my group, and she and two other Canadians kinda became my buddies in each class.  We saved each other seats and so forth.  I just don't know her blog.  Does anyone know her?  She teaches art classes around the country and often publishes in magazines and books.

One little picture of the closing ceremony.  (Where I couldn't eat anything... had lapband tightened a couple of weeks ago!)  Beach time in a week and a half!  Woot Woot!

And finally, this is my new friend, Stacy.  She and I spent the last night there with her in my room watching a movie and making jewelry!  She is from Orlando, so I will be able to visit her when I go see the in-laws.  A real live art friend.  How fun?!
so with the exception of showing my projects, this concludes our revisit of Inspired 2009.  Thanks for indulging me.  We will return to our previously scheduled blog post of cute girls in bows and monorgrammed panties tomorrow.  Nighty night, all.  Melanie

I have your cool peace shirt Mo. I wore it to a birthday party the week before last. It ROCKS! Gotta love Target.
I would LOVE something like this. I'm overwhelmed though. I enjoy so much of it. I can't stick to one thing. I'm trying to figure out what I LOVE. Maybe I love it ALL. (Tonight, it's caps, not parenthesis!) HA.

I need to go next year. That is that is that. What in the world is FUM-whatever clay? Where is it?

Don't leave me hanging, child. Sheesh. It isn't enough that a whole wheelbarrow of transplanted Coral Bells that I moved on Saturday look like the last half of "Barber of Seville", now I have to worry about clay

LOL! Thank you for the inclusion of your trip. It looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see the results!

You know I enjoyed all of it!! I got in on a tensecondsstudio demo a couple of weeks ago. It is SUPER fantastic fun and fabulous! Can't wait to get my hands on more of their metal. I love sewing, too but haven't done it in so long. Somehow in our move to TX four long years ago I lost the foot pedal to my machine and haven't gotten around to getting another. I need to do that! Oh, and by the way....love the earring kit. I'm a jewelry makin' fool. All the moms and grands got sets for Mother's Day. And their are TONS of bead stores in the metroplex. I have only visited a handful and it's already BAD!!

Well now that my finals are over and I have no classes for the summer looks like I might be starting some projects inspired by you!

Thank you for sharing your trip, sounds & looks like a lot of FUN, if only I had the time and money...I know do something in your area, and maybe I could take a two hour drive for your classes! I am sure a few of my friends or my daughter would love to learn some new crafts.

Thanks again,
Di

I'm so glad you blogged about this. I love a kinds of crafts and get inspired everytime you show what you have done. Know I have more places to visit and get more inspired. Thanks for all the great blogs and pictures. A special thank you for being inspiring (as a mother and a crafter). Can't wait to see all your creations.

I'd love to go to something like that, how cool!! I am crafty and I scrapbook too. I've never made anything with beads though. I mainly quilt that's my first choice, but this whole thing sounds great!! Good for you, "filling yourself up" with a couple days of doing what you love to do. I think that's terrific!

Melanie...it's Suzy A. and I AM still here. I have GOT to go to Inspired for sure. Saw that tenseconds lady at our art conv. last year, and that C.D. girl won (I think) the CK Hall of Fame. I've seen her in magazines alot. Her last name is something like: McKlowsky !?! (oohh, so sorry I know I've messed that up, but it's close. I'm sure it's close enough to google it LOL). Your girls are precious, but keep up the crafty posts too ok? Love how the lady did her signature on that metal book. Like I said before...we need to talk. Cannot believe you got to meet all those superheroes. Cool. Did you get an Inspired necklace (they're too cute) and I saw those clear rings on DD's site. Idea overload, huh?
I'm working on sending some stuff to the shake. check out my blog again when you have time. Any readers out there might want to check too...I like to do artsy giveaways and the next thing will be to benefit Shake4Jake. www.suzyallenart.blogspot.com
I'll keep in touch...
