Gabbi loves to play pretend.

I think I might have mentioned before how much Gabbi Girl LOVES movies.  Especially cartoony-kind of movies.
For example, this one... RIO!  She L.O.V.E.S. Rio!!
She likes to play like she is Blue or Jewel.  Know them!?
She came in the room carrying two washcloths, like she does EVERY time that movie comes on!!
But this time, (apparently a sign she's getting older!), she went to my art room and brought back a roll of duct tape.  She said, "Mama, can you tape these onto my hands?".
She gets totally into character when she plays Mulan, wearing a sash, carrying a sword and pretends to cut her hair off.  She always asks me to put her hair up in a bun on top of her head like Mulan did when she was trying to look like a boy.
When she plays Brave, often she tries to act like the bear, Murdu.  She crawls around and growls and refuses to use human words for like an hour or so.
But on this day, it was all about being a blue macaw!
and it's like I can see the bliss in her eyes.  She is so happy being in "character".  Maybe I should have her get active in Little Theater.  Maybe that will be her "thing"?!
And then she decided she'd try to fly.... like Blue finally does at the end of the show when he gets brave and flies to save Jewel.
I was watching and wondering as my own little scaredy cat crouched down really low, obviously taking this assignment very seriously!!
And then she did it!!  My bed is pretty high! I was quite proud.  But probably not as proud as she was!
She's really coming into her own as she has hit 5 years old.  Doing things like this...
And being totally in LOVE with this....
And making her parents' hears swell like this....
Having our mother/daughter art class tomorrow night.  If you were interested in coming and you haven't heard from me, call me tomorrow at work and leave a message.... 318-396-1969.  It's gonna start at 6:00.  We're doing a 16x20 canvas with kids doing the backgrounds and mamas doing the foregrounds.  Should be fun!! We are doing a canvas for DeeDee, per her request, to match her new laundry room.... IN WEST MONROE!!!!!  Dee Dee and Granddad are en route RIGHT THIS MINUTE to live in West Monroe.  MOving from Orlando.  We are pretty excited about this change!

How exciting that Dee Dee and Granddad are moving to where you live! There's nothing like having grandparents close by.

I'm wondering if Gabbi will be a reader? When I was growing up, I was a voracious reader...LOVED books. One's imagination really comes alive while reading. Of course, I'm old as dirt...back in my day, we didn't have videos. Books will take you as far as your imagination allows!

Oh my goodness would Gabbi and Bre be a pair. She is also my movie loving child and will watch the movie SPIRIT over and over and OVER!!! I just say RIO for the first time last month and its the most CUTEST and COLORFUL MOVIE to date!! Bre liked it okay...but SPIRIT still ranks #1 on her list. She is my HORSE LOVING CHILD!!! That child everytime she saw a horse in a field as we drove to Dallas last weekend. She does NOT understand "why we can't just buy her horse"!! I reply "we have NO WHERE TO KEEP A HORSE Bre"!! The next question is ...why can't yall just buy a farm and we can have somewhere to put my horse then"!!!Duhhhh yeah that surely makes since. Let me just "BUY A FARM"!! LOL!!! Good thing is I found a local lady who has a little ranch outside the city limits and have SEVERAL HORSES and has agreed to let Bre come and spend the day w/them. Guess I better warn her...she may wanna move in PERMANENTLY!!

PS Soooo sad, I'm missing this weekend. This would be a BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND TO TRAVEL...but helping my 24yr old move to her new apt this weekend. Yah...that sounds like a ton of fun...right??!!
